About
I am Valentina Černiauskaitė, a visual artist working at the intersections of contemporary art, publishing, and writing. Through the exploration of time, memory, change, communication and fragility, I look into the nature of storytelling and the ways perception is shaped.Curious about cyclicality and repetition, I often use analogue photography, printed matter, drawing, textile and writing to reflect on the connections, frictions and relationships between time, space, humans and the natural world.
Cohesion and continuity are central to my practice, with each work forming part of a larger evolving whole. My work is guided by attention, intuition and an ongoing response to rhythms beyond the human scale, while navigating the tension between vulnerability and control.
I was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, and currently live and work in Helsinki, Finland. I hold a BA in Graphic Art from the Vilnius Academy of Arts with an exchange year at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki.
